This Privacy Policy explains how Recipeo ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and
protects your information when you use the Recipeo mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree
to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you create an account with an email address, we collect that address and a securely stored password.
Sign-in with Apple or Google. If you choose to sign in with Apple or with Google, we receive a verified identifier for your account and the email address linked to it, and your name if the provider supplies one. We never receive your Apple or Google password. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only ever see the relay address Apple gives us.
Profile information. Your username, display name, biography, and profile photo, if you add them. A username is allocated when you register and you can change it at any time.
Recipes and content you publish. Recipes you choose to publish, the photos attached to them, and the text you write in them.
Social connections. Who you follow, who follows you, follow requests you send or receive, and the accounts you block.
Photos you provide. Photos of dishes or ingredients that you capture with your camera or select from your photo library, used to recognize ingredients and generate recipes, and photos you attach to a recipe you publish.
Video links and content. When you share a cooking video (for example, an Instagram Reel, YouTube Short, or TikTok) with the App, we process the linked video and its audio to extract the recipe for you.
Recipe and preference data. Recipes you save, dietary preferences, allergies and exclusions, meal plans, shopping lists, pantry items, cooking diary entries, and other settings you enter to personalize your experience.
Barcodes you scan. When you scan a product barcode, we process the barcode to look up the product and its nutrition information.
Reports you send. If you report a recipe or an account, we collect the report and the content it refers to so we can review it.
Notification token. If you turn on reminders, we store a push notification token for your device so we can deliver them. It identifies the installation, not you personally.
Purchase information. Subscription and in-app purchase status, processed by Apple and our payments partner (RevenueCat). We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
Usage and device data. Basic technical and usage data used to operate, secure, and improve the App.
2. What Other People Can See
Recipeo has a social side, and some of what you create is meant to be seen by others. This is what is
visible and what is not:
Public by default. Your username, display name, biography, profile photo, and any recipe you publish — including its photos — can be seen by anyone using the App, and by anyone your content is shared with.
Private account. You can make your account private in Settings. Your published recipes are then visible only to followers you have approved, and anyone else must send a follow request.
Always private. Recipes you save without publishing, your meal plans, shopping lists, pantry, cooking diary, dietary preferences, and your email address are never shown to other users.
Blocking. An account you block cannot see your profile or your published recipes, and cannot follow you.
Publishing is a choice you can reverse. You can unpublish or delete a recipe at any time. Copies that other people already saved or shared may remain with them.
3. How We Use Your Information
To generate, personalize, and save recipes for you.
To analyze photos and shared videos in order to identify ingredients and extract recipes.
To calculate nutrition information and ingredient breakdowns.
To show your published recipes to other users, and to show you recipes and accounts you may want to follow.
To deliver follow requests, new-follower notices, and other activity about your account.
To review reports and to enforce our terms, including removing content or accounts that break them.
To provide, maintain, and improve the App's features.
To process subscriptions and in-app purchases.
To send optional reminders (such as meal-time notifications) if you enable them.
To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or technical issues.
4. AI Processing
Recipeo uses third-party artificial-intelligence services to analyze the photos and videos you provide and
to generate recipes, nutrition estimates, and related content. To do this, the content you submit — such as
photos of food and ingredients and the cooking videos you share — is transmitted to:
Google (Gemini AI) — image and video analysis and recipe generation.
This content is sent solely to produce the results you request. We access these AI services through paid API
plans; under Google's paid Gemini API terms, the content you submit is not used to train Google's models, and we
do not authorize any provider to use your content for any purpose other than generating your requested results.
AI-generated recipes and nutrition values are estimates and may be inaccurate; they are provided for
informational purposes only and are not medical or dietary advice.
5. Third-Party Services
We share information only as needed with service providers that help us operate the App, including:
Google Cloud & Neon — application hosting and database storage.
RevenueCat & Apple — subscription and purchase processing.
Google (Gemini AI) — image and video analysis and recipe generation (see Section 4).
Apple & Google — verifying your identity when you choose Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google.
Expo — delivering push notifications to your device, if you enable them.
Instacart — if you choose to send a shopping list to Instacart, the items on that list are sent to Instacart so it can build your cart. This only happens when you tap to do it, and it is subject to Instacart's own privacy policy.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms. We do not sell your personal information.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and
all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete Account within the App. Deletion removes your
profile, username, published recipes and their photos, saved recipes, preferences, social connections, uploaded
content, and account record.
We may retain a limited record of reports and enforcement actions for as long as needed to keep the App safe
and to meet our legal obligations, even after the account involved is deleted.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage
is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Where Your Information Is Processed
Summit Core Technologies LLC is based in the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, and the services we use
to run the App store and process information in the United States and in other countries. If you use Recipeo from
outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data
protection law may differ from the law where you live. By using the App you understand that this transfer takes
place. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as the European Commission's Standard
Contractual Clauses — for transfers of information out of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country). We do
not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal
information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information,
or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise many of these rights directly in the App, or by
contacting us at the address below.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the
"Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the
updated policy.
